Last wowing Australian audiences in 2022, THE SCRIPT took fans on a trip down memory lane with performances of essential tracks such as The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, For The First Time, Nothing and the emotionally charged Breakeven, reminding fans of the powerful songwriting that propelled THE SCRIPT to become a household name.
THE SCRIPT’s recently announced album, Satellites (releasing Friday 16 August via BMG Australia and available for pre-order here), marks their seventh studio album and first since the passing of beloved bandmate and guitarist Mark Sheehan. Opening track Both Ways sees the band dabble with an energetic new sound and funky upbeat rhythms. The band followed this release with single At Your Feet, a dynamic song that takes listeners on a journey across personal lyricism, soaring choruses and intimate emotions.
“The album cover is silhouettes of me, Glen and Ben Sargeant, our bassist, who's been with us from the beginning. Then we have a hooded silhouette, because the air of Mark is still there”, says lead singer Danny O’Donoghue on the legacy of their adored bandmate. “He always will be, but it's also giving a tip of the hat to the future. It'll never be the same Script. We're just trying to get on and do what it is that we all feel is the next right thing to do and that’s to keep making more great music.”
Since forming in 2001, THE SCRIPT have cemented themselves as one of the most definitive pop groups of their era, achieving more than 10 billion streams (a feat that has since earned them a BRITs Billion Award), 12 million album sales, six UK Number one albums and two Platinum-certified US singles. Five Top 10 ARIA album charts and 7 Top 40 singles (including 5 x platinum for Breakeven and 10 x platinum for Hall of Fame [feat. will.i.am]) have established the band’s status as one of Australia’s most loved acts. Tracks such as Superheroes and Rain have solidified the band’s legacy as chart-topping sensations and dazzling live performers.
“The Script have always had a strong tie with Aussie fans and there is a loving energy that can be felt across The Bowl” – The Music
“Perth crowd wowed by ‘flawless’ greatest hits show … it was impossible to fault the band’s performance” – The West Australian
“… the classic much adored Breakeven … saw the crowd swoon to its anthemic encore” – UK Music Reviews
First achieving mainstream recognition as a fan-favourite contestant on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 CALUM SCOTT is a rising pop sensation with a belting voice and persona to match. The 2016 release of seminal hit Dancing On My Own has seen more than 1 billion Spotify streams to date and catapulted Scott as a star to watch. His 2018 debut album Only Human saw the Brit Award nominated singer reach Number one on the iTunes album chart in more than 20 countries around the world. His acclaimed 2022 sophomore album Bridges features single Rise, credited by Rolling Stone as “one of the 50 Most Inspirational LGBTQ Songs of All Time”. His recently released single, Roots, blends fast-paced rhythms with Calum's soaring, powerful voice and free-spirited lyricism.
Since early releases of I Am Not An End and I’m A Fantastic Wreck in 2014, MONTAIGNE has established themselves as one of Australia’s most exciting artists with an instantly recognisable and dynamic voice. The release of Because I Love You in 2016 earned them a Number 4 ARIA Chart position and a ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ award at the 2016 ARIA Awards, followed by their collaboration with Hilltop Hoods and Tom Thum on 1995, a now 8 x Platinum record. Their debut album Glorious Heights debuted at Number 4 on the ARIA charts and was nominated for a triple j J Award. 2022 came with a pivotal moment for the artist, collaborating on single Always Be You with one of the world’s most influential artists, David Byrne, who describes Montaigne’s artistry as ‘complete heartfelt honesty and transparency about their feelings ... all set to incredibly infectious tunes’.
X AMBASSADORS exploded into the mainstream with their 2015 platinum-certified debut album, VHS, and have barely missed a beat since. Frontman Sam Nelson Harris has also achieved acclaim as a producer and songwriter for artists including Rihanna and SZA, as well as collaborating with Eminem, K.Flay and Illenium. The group’s latest album, Townie, marks possibly their most intimate and personal record yet, as Harris takes listeners on the journey of his upbringing and adolescence in upstate New York alongside brother and fellow bandmate Casey Harris.
Melbourne singer-songwriter LOTTE GALLAGHER earned initial acclaim with the 2023 release of single Adam, placing her on the map as a triple j Unearthed High finalist. 2024 has been a huge year for the dynamite vocalist, recently supporting Canadian rock band The Beaches and American singer-songwriter Ricky Montgomery. Recently released tracks Gray and This Room have solidified the artist as a rising star to watch, her unique blend of alt-rock reminiscent of genre leaders such as Phoebe Bridgers and Angie McMahon.
Don’t miss the magic of THE SCRIPT live in concert this summer, along with very special guests CALUM SCOTT, MONTAIGNE, X AMBASSADORS and LOTTE GALLAGHER.
Tickets on sale Friday 9 August at 12.00pm local time from Ticketmaster.
